If you want to keep up with the latest word from your favorite news outlets or reviewers, an RSS feed would make things much easier, especially with a proper client application. A good example is Raven, which provides you with the latest articles from various websites through an RSS feed. You can just open this application on your desktop and immediately find the latest articles, only from the domains that interest you.

Raven works on all modern Windows systems, and it is also available for Linux and Mac OS X. It doesn't take long to install the application, and there are no special requirements you have to meet, so you can start using it right away. Furthermore, the software is offered completely free of charge on all platforms.

The application's functionality and design are clean and simple, thus allowing you to manage your RSS feeds and subscribe to new ones on the fly. The articles from all feeds are presented in a list, in the central region of the interface and you can read the actual content in the larger area on the right. Furthermore, the software lets you filter the articles, to display saved, unread or recently read ones, as well as the articles you've marked as favorites.

If you want to see only articles from a specific feed, you can select the actual feed in a column, on the left side of the interface, beneath the other filtering options. Feeds appear automatically in that area when you subscribe to them, which is done by simply pasting a link on a small panel and clicking a button. What's more, Raven lets you import and export your subscriptions, which makes the transition from other readers smoother, and it also gives you the possibility of setting up the application on multiple computers.

If you want a simple, distraction-free way of enjoying content from your favorite websites, then Raven is exactly what you need.

Pros

Subscribing to RSS feeds can be done at a moment's notice. The software automatically retrieves the latest articles. It lets you save them, mark them as favorites and filter them.

Cons

Some videos may not work if they are included in a feed.
